Christmas Countdown: 11 Days Till Christmas

I love Christmas. I love everything Christmas themed from the music to the movies to the special TV episodes. Therefore, for today’s post, I thought I would answer 10 questions about my favourite Holiday.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

My favourite Christmas movie is The Holiday starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. It is the perfect combination of romance and comedy and manages to get you in the Christmas mood without being over-the-top Christmas-themed.

Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

My siblings and I open our presents on Christmas morning with our parents and then open the presents from our extended family that evening or the evening of Boxing Day.

Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

I remember being young and baking Christmas-themed baking goods with my Mum – I loved both Baking and Christmas so it was the perfect way to spend a day for me.

Favourite festive food?

I am not a huge fan of Christmas Food including mince pies and Christmas pudding. My favourite food from Christmas has always been the Christmas-themed shortbread and the jelly sweets my Nan always buys for Christmas.

Favourite Christmas gift?

For Christmas last year and for my 21st Birthday, my parents paid for me to go to New York for Christmas-time and New Year’s Eve. It was honestly one of my favourite holidays ever and had been a dream of mine for a few years. I think I cried tears of happiness when they told me I would be going.

Favourite Christmas scent?

I really like the smell of cinnamon and associate it with the Holidays.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Every Christmas Eve, my parents and my siblings and I drive to the ‘Christmas Lights Road’ where every house is extravagantly decorated for Christmas including strings of lights, house decorations and even a light-up fish!  We then head home for Hot Chocolate, sweets and a Christmas movie.

What is at the top of your tree?

My Mum has an Angel that she bought years ago that always goes at the top of the tree. We used to take it in turns to be lifted up to put the Angel at the top of the tree but now that we can all reach, it is whoever finishes putting up the baubles quickest.

As a kid, what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I always really wanted a Hamster as a child. I was terrified of dogs and cats so a Hamster seemed like the perfect pet to me. There was a point in my life where all of my friends seemingly had a Hamster and yet one was never at the bottom of the tree for me.

What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

The best part of Christmas for me is everything Christmas themed: the music, the movies, the Christmas Markets, Winter Wonderland, Secret Santa and all the festive games.

What does Christmas mean to you?

  1. Is it bad that I’ve never seen The Holiday ?? (Or Elf…). I rarely watch movies but my favourite Christmas movie is and always will be The Grinch, 💚 The best part of Christmas for me is the giving – seeing the look on people’s faces when they open the gift I’ve picked out especially for them gives me the WARMEST feeling. Makes me so happy. Great post! xx

    • I would recommend The Holiday if you like rom-coms. I am definitely more a tv series than a movie person though. I am halfway through watching The Grinch Who Stole Christmas currently – never realised how young Taylor Momsen was when she started acting or how much she has changed!! Agreed. xx
