2018 In Review

One of my favourite types of videos to watch are Year In Review videos where someone recaps their year using footage obtained from throughout the year. Since it is officially the end of 2018, I thought I would write a post summarizing and reflecting back on 2018. You can check out my 2017 In Review here

2018 started 3459 miles from home in New York City with my Dad. As part of my 21st birthday present, my parents had arranged for me to visit New York City over the Christmas period, knowing that it has been a dream of mine for a while. It was honestly the best holiday I have ever been on and I am so grateful to have been able to visit. You can read about my time in New York City here

Upon my return to England, I was fortunate enough to be able to celebrate my 21st birthday with the rest of my family and friends. My two best friends, Anna and Grace, organized a day of board games followed by dinner at Jamie’s Italian in London, having remembered it being on my bucket-list from the previous year. My Mum took me shopping in Oxford Street followed by dinner with both my parents and siblings at Mildred’s, one of the most popular vegetarian and vegan restaurants in London. Thank you to everyone who was involved in my birthday celebrations and made my 21st birthday one of my best yet. You can check out my post about my 21st Birthday Celebrations here

February

February was spent on placement. I was fortunate enough to be located at a Hospital close to my student flat so I was able to walk there and back every day as well as work with an amazing team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants. It was honestly one of my favourite placements to date and this was reflected in my mark.

March

March was a stressful month for me because my dissertation was due at the end of the month. Thankfully I was able to complete it on time, thanks to a delay in the deadline due to the snow, and managed to achieve a First.

April

April was spent revising for my final exam. I was fortunate enough to only have one exam at the end of my final year of University, although the exam did encompass all three years of my degree.

May

On the 3rd of May was my final examination. Although the exam did not go as well as I could have hoped, I was still able to pass the exam and therefore pass my degree, graduating later in the year.

Following my final examination, I headed back into Central London where I met my boyfriend for the first time. For those of you who have not read my previous posts, I met my boyfriend online using the dating app, Bumble. We have now been together almost 8 months.

June

June was also the 1st year anniversary of this blog, the 17th of June to be exact. When I wrote this post last year, I had 272 followers and I now have 896 followers (as of the time I am writing this post), an increase of 624 followers.

June was also the month that I finally visited Notting Hill, having lived in London for almost three years. I went with Grace and we had a fun afternoon taking photographs outside the coloured houses, trying flower-flavored lattes and eating cronuts. The evening was then spent watching Heathers at the Theatre, which is based on the popular film and stars Carrie Hope Fletcher. You can check out my post about the day here

July

On the 2nd of July, my brother turned 18 years old. My Mum had planned a family day-out involving walking over the O2 Arena, an activity that I have wanted to do ever since I first heard about it, and Swingers, an indoor mini-golf course and bar. You can check out my post about the day here

The following day, my parents, my sister and I flew to Porto in Portugal for a week as part of our summer holiday. Porto was beautiful and we were all able to top up on our tans but we did find that we ran out of activities to do by the end of the week. You can check out my travel guide for Porto here

On my return from Porto, it was time to celebrate Grace’s 21st Birthday. Every year, I organize a birthday day-out for her and Anna, my two best friends. However, since Grace would be having an operation later this month, I decided to organize two separate days-out this year. For Grace’s birthday, I decided to organize a Instagram scavenger hunt where we would each re-create 5 Instagram photographs at various landmarks in London. Check out my post here to see how we did.

On the 25th July was my Graduation Ceremony. I graduated from King’s College London with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. It was such a sunny and warm day, it was a shame to spend it inside the venue but at least this meant the photographs came out looking lovely. You can check out my graduation post here

August

In August, I moved out of my student flat and back into my parents’s house. Having lived out for two of the three years of my degree, it has been a challenge moving back in with my parents but ultimately, it was the best decision in terms of saving money.

I was also fortunate enough to be able to travel to Amsterdam and Copenhagen with my boyfriend in August, having wanted to visit both places for a while now. I absolutely loved both places and was surprised at how different they are – Amsterdam consisted of canals and lots of vegan restaurants whilst Copenhagen was more built-up and had a lower proportion of vegetarian and vegan options. If you are thinking of visiting in 2019, you should definitely check out my travel guide for Amsterdam and Copenhagen

September

In September, we celebrated Anna’s 21st Birthday. As mentioned previously, every year I organize a birthday day-out for my two best friends, Anna and Grace. This year, I decided to organize a Harry Potter themed dinner party since Anna is a huge Harry Potter fan. We had Harry Potter themed food including cheese and bread-stick broomsticks, a roast dinner and cupcakes iced the four House colours, followed by re-watching Fantastic Beasts. You can check out my post here about the dinner party.

October

In October, I attended my first NFL game at Wembley Stadium. My boyfriend Tom is a huge Seattle Seahawks fan and therefore introduced me to the game too. I have never considered myself to be a sports-lover but the plays are so quick that you have to stay focused. You can check out my post on the game here

I was also fortunate enough to attend my first blogger event in October. The Body Shop in Oxford were kind enough to invite me to ‘Enchanted by Westgate’, an event to celebrate having had their store open for a year. We all had a skin-care consultation, where we were advised the best facial skincare products for our skin, and a make-over. I had an amazing time so thank you to all the staff involved in the event. You can check out my post on the experience here

November

In November, I celebrated my 6 month anniversary with my boyfriend Tom. To commemorate the anniversary, we went to York for a long weekend. York was absolutely beautiful and I would love to return in the summer. You can read my York Travel Guide here

December

December has been spent completing various Winter-themed activities from ice skating in Somerset House to watching The Holiday at The Princes Charles Cinema in Leicester Square to making Gingerbread Houses. You can read more about these activities here

This year was the first year that I was away from home for Christmas. I spent Christmas morning at Tom’s parent’s house and was fortunate enough to be given a full stocking and various other presents, including an Alice In Wonderland homemade pillow. We then drove to my Nan’s house to spent Christmas Evening with my extended family where we were gifted with even more presents. I was honestly spoiled this year.

And that is my 2018! I hope you have enjoyed reading my recap of the year. What has been your highlight of this year?

    • It took me 2 hours to write this post and I had to limit myself to a maximum of 2 activities a month! I definitely did a lot in 2018. Ooh, you will have to let me know what to do when I return as I feel like I did all the touristy things. xx

    • I definitely did a lot during 2018! I would highly recommend visiting New York, it is just as magical as the movies portray it. Just perhaps not during December-February unless you are wearing ski gear as it is freezing!! xx
